Healthline Internship

Healthline Internship Program

Our Healthline is operated by trained interns who provide information, referrals, advocacy and peer counseling about:
  • abortion
  • birth control
  • the menstrual cycle
  • pregnancy
  • prenatal care
  • health insurance
  • sexually transmitted infections
AND who help organize transportation, lodging, childcare, food, abortion doula, and funding assistance for our callers seeking abortion care.

Interns often also work on projects which may include:
  • updating referral listings about health care providers and other resources available to low-income and uninsured people in California.
  • helping coordinate the annual Abortion ACCESS Bowl-A-Thon.
  • learning about and participating in policy advocacy for abortion access, welfare reform, immigration reform, and more!

Here is what we want from you:

  • Work in our Oakland office during our healthline business hours (Monday – Friday 9am-4pm)
  • Commit to a 6 month term
  • 12 hours minimum each week
*All Healthline Interns must participate in our Reproductive Justice in Action Training. Click here for general information on the training.  Click here for training dates and applications.

For non-Healthline internships, ACCESS seeks Office, Graphic Design, Tech, Fundraising, Grant Writing, Public Policy, and other types of interns.  Internships are custom designed based on the availability of staff members to supervise the position and the project.  Please be in touch with a member of the ACCESS staff to have the position approved: volunteering@accesswhj.org.  It is preferred but not mandatory for non-Healthline interns to attend the Reproductive Justice in Action Training.
